Her award-winning book THE WINE REGION OF RIOJA ( 2012) was and remains the first and only book by a US publisher dedicated to RIOJA. It was envisioned to be a long-overdue authoritative, informative and beautiful reference tool for both the seasoned professional and the wine consumer. Much of the research for this work was done in Castilian since so very little of the “real Rioja” is published in English. The second edition was released in 2017. Both editions have been awarded in the categories of Best in History, Photography, and Travel.

It may be “I’ll have a merlot” or “Can you recommend a chardonnay.” However, wine is often approached by region. This means the place of origins such as Napa, Bordeaux, Chianti, or Rioja. For the later 3, the place and wine are often interchangeable. It may translate into “We’ll try the Chianti,” or what I always hear is “I LOVE Rioja.”
