The Shining Light Spirit of Wild Horse Pass – The objective of the journey through grief is to accept the reality of the death but to also realize that your relationship transforms from one of a physical nature to one of a spiritual nature. That’s a lot easier said than done because we deeply miss the physical presence of our loved ones. However, spirits being part of the equation want us to know they’re still part of our lives. They often use frequency beacons, which occur when a spirit directs a human’s attention to a particular person, place, or thing. Frequency beacons, though, are a two-way street. Spirits can send them to us, and we can send them to spirits. And the reply from spirits can manifest in unexpected ways.
I was honored to be a keynote presenter at the Helping Parents Heal Conference at Wild Horse Pass Conference Center just outside of Phoenix, Arizona. Helping Parents Heal is a non-profit organization dedicated to guiding parents through the devastation of losing of a child. This beautiful group developed the term “Shining Light Parent,” which means that the light for the love of children in spirit shines forever in the heart of the parent, and the light of our loved ones in spirit shines ever brightly in eternity.
In addition to my keynote, I was one of several mediums who were there to facilitate communication between Shining Light Parents and their children in spirit. It was Sunday morning, and my manager, Rocky, and I attended the presentation conducted by our friend and colleague, Dr. Mark Pitstick. He’s a true healer in every sense of the word as a clinical psychologist, chiropractic physician, pastoral counselor, and all-around good guy. His life partner, Andrea “Andy” Lee, is a psychic medium like me.
Dr. Pitstick concluded his presentation with a guided meditation, which led hundreds of the attendees, ourselves included, to ask our loved ones in spirit to connect with us. This huge frequency beacon emitted a massive wave of love from those of us here on earth to our loved ones in eternity.
When the session was over, it was lunchtime. Dr. Pitstick had to leave for a private coaching session. Rocky asked Andy if she were free for lunch and although she had other plans, Andy paused and said, “I feel I need to accept your invitation.”
Rocky, Andy, and I sat at an outdoor café overlooking the Gila River. The intense desert heat was tempered by the shade of trees and an overhead trellis. The air was cooled by evaporating water emitted by misters above us. Rocky explained how Wild Horse Pass was the ideal location for the Helping Parents Heal Conference, as it was land sacred to Native Americans. Suddenly, my mind’s eye filled with an image of my friend Louise.
“Andy, as a medium, you’ll find this interesting: my friend Louise is a rocket scientist for a NASA contractor, and she’s of Native American heritage. Her mother was a dear friend of mine, too. Louise and her mom weren’t just mother and daughter—they were best friends. Her mom was so cool. After my own mother’s death, Louise’s mom called me her spiritually adopted son. She passed from cancer a few months ago.”

“I’m sorry,” Andy replied. “Her mother was in hospice, and Louise was by her side every minute. Hospice sent a counsellor who told them, ‘As a patient approaches the end of life, the patient may have hallucinations that they see spirits.’ And Louise said, “We’re Native American; of course, we see spirits!’”
Andy and Rocky chuckled, then I said, “Boy, I miss Louise’s mom, Gloria.”
“Oh my God!” Andy exclaimed, “During the meditation this morning, a woman’s spirit came through to me. She was upbeat, happy, and boisterous—there wasn’t even a hello—here’s the thing, I don’t normally get names from spirits, but she emphatically said, “I’m GLORIA.”
Rocky and I were on the edge of our seats.
“Gloria was dressed in vibrant colors,” Andy explained. “She was wearing a lot of jewelry and told me it was important for her presence to be made known to her daughter—I told the spirit, ‘I don’t know you,’ and Gloria’s spirit said, ‘but you will!’ and now I do!”
I grabbed my cell phone, put it on speaker, and called Louise, who immediately answered.

“Hey Louise, it’s Mark Anthony. I’m on Native American land in Arizona—and well, you need to hear this from my friend and fellow medium Andy.” As Andy explained what had happened, Rocky and I could hear the joy in Louise’s voice.
“Well, that’s definitely Mom,” Louise told us. “When she entered a room, there was no way you could miss her. Always dressed colorfully and loved her jewelry. In a way, I’m not surprised—but I have to admit this is great!”
Suddenly, it all made sense. The massive frequency beacon of love we collectively emitted during Dr. Pitstick’s guided meditation was received loud and clear by spirits. This initiated a chain of events I’ve termed as Spiritual Synchronicity, which occurs when spirits guide someone in the material world to be in the right place at the right time to act as an instrument of healing. Gloria’s spirit chose to contact my friend and fellow medium Andy, then guided Andy to change her lunch plans so she would be alone with Rocky and me. Being on land sacred to Native Americans created the opening for me to bring up my Native American friends, Louise and Gloria. And voila, all the pieces of the Spiritual Synchronicity puzzle orchestrated by Gloria fell into place.
A wise English medium once told me, “When you announce to the world you can perceive and communicate with spirits, you’ll lose most of your friends—except the ones who were truly your friends all along.”
She was right. Although I’d been born into a family of psychic mediums, for years I kept a low profile about my mediumship, but when I went public with it, most of my friends distanced themselves from me, except for Gloria and Louise.
While Gloria was undergoing hospice care, Louise kept me posted on her condition. When Gloria passed in April 2023, Louise called me and said it was important to let Gloria’s spiritually adopted son know first.
And now Gloria, as a Shining Light Parent, had contacted her daughter and me, her spiritually adopted son, to let us know that the light of her love was not extinguished by physical death but rather that she shines ever brighter in eternity.
