The “Bad Man Picker” Epidemic: Are You Infected?

April 1, 2025 by Jana Short

The "Bad Man Picker" Epidemic: Are You Infected

The “Bad Man Picker” Epidemic: Are You Infected? – Okay, ladies, let’s have some real talk. How many times have you looked back on your dating history and cringed? Maybe you’ve even muttered the words, “What was I thinking?” If you’ve found yourself in a seemingly endless cycle of attracting the same kind of unavailable, emotionally stunted, or just plain wrong guy, you might be suffering from a case of ‘Bad Man Picker’ syndrome. And trust me, you’re not alone. This is an epidemic.

But here’s the good news: it’s not some incurable disease! You’re not doomed to a life of disappointing relationships. This “Bad Man Picker” within you isn’t some permanent personality flaw. It’s a pattern, a habit, a series of neural pathways in your brain that have been carved out over time. And just like any habit, it can be changed.

Why Do We Keep Picking the Wrong Guys?

Now, before you start blaming your bad luck or the lack of decent men out there (though, let’s be honest, sometimes it does feel that way!), let’s dig a little deeper. The truth is, our “Man Picker” is often a reflection of our own self-worth. We attract what we think we deserve.

Think about it. If deep down you don’t believe you’re worthy of love, respect, and a healthy relationship, you’ll unconsciously seek out partners who reinforce that belief. That emotionally unavailable guy? He confirms your fear that you’re not worthy of someone’s full attention. The guy who constantly puts you down? He validates your inner critic that says you’re not good enough.

It’s a painful cycle, but it’s one we have the power to break.

Rewiring Your “Man Picker”: The Power of Words

Here’s where things get really interesting. Our brains are incredibly adaptable. Through a process called neuroplasticity, we can literally rewire our thinking patterns and create new neural pathways. And one of the most powerful tools we have for this rewiring? Our words.

The words we use, both internally and out loud, shape our reality. They influence our thoughts, our emotions, and even our behaviors. So, if you’re constantly telling yourself you’re a “Bad Man Picker” or that you’re “always attracting the wrong guys,” guess what? Your brain is going to believe you, and it’s going to keep finding evidence to support that belief.

But here’s the key: you can consciously choose to use different words—words that empower you, affirm your worthiness, and open you up to the possibility of a healthy, loving relationship.

The ‘Yet’ Factor: Turning Limitations into Possibilities

In my book The ‘Yet’ Factor, I delve deep into the power of one tiny word: “yet.” It transforms limitations into possibilities, shifting us from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset.

Instead of saying, “I just have a Bad Man Picker,” try saying, “I haven’t mastered the art of choosing a good partner yet.” Feel the difference? The first statement is limiting and defeating. The second is empowering and hopeful. It acknowledges where you are right now while opening up the possibility for change and growth.

This simple shift in language can have a profound impact on your “Man Picker.” When you start believing that you can change and that you can learn to choose better partners, you start attracting a different kind of man. You start seeing yourself as worthy of a healthy, fulfilling relationship.

Beyond Words: Embracing Your Worthiness

Of course, rewiring your “Man Picker” goes beyond just changing your words. It’s about truly believing in your worthiness. It’s about recognizing that you deserve love, respect, and a partner who cherishes you for who you are.

This might involve some deeper inner work. It might mean addressing past hurts, challenging limiting beliefs and cultivating self-love. But trust me, it’s worth the effort.

When you tap into your worthiness, you radiate a different energy. You attract a different kind of man. You no longer settle for crumbs because you know you deserve the whole damn cake.

Ready to Ditch the “Bad Man Picker” for Good?

So, are you ready to break free from the “Bad Man Picker” epidemic? Are you ready to rewire your brain, embrace your worthiness, and attract the kind of partner you truly deserve?

If the answer is yes, I invite you to take it to the next level. Grab your copy of The ‘Yet’ Factor and start your journey towards creating space for a better partner, the one you were always meant to be with. It’s time to ditch the duds and say hello to a love that truly lights you up.

“Unlock your true potential; the key is in your vocabulary.”

Are you ready to take that journey? If so, I invite you to dive deeper into the empowering lessons of “The ‘Yet’ Factor.” Get your copy today and start creating positive change in your life!
