Spring has always felt like an invitation to begin again. The days stretch longer, the air softens, and something inside us naturally wants to clear out what’s been weighing us down. We talk a lot about spring cleaning our homes, but what about spring cleaning our bodies and nervous systems?
I learned the importance of this the hard way.
In 2024, black mold nearly took me out. What started as a mysterious full-body rash eventually spiraled into one of the most frightening health crises of my life. I was living by the lake in Austin, Texas, taking daily walks by the water, and doing all the “right” things. Then suddenly my body started sounding alarms I didn’t yet understand.
After an initial detox protocol, my symptoms subsided, and I thought I was in the clear. Months later, depression hit me out of nowhere. I had never struggled with mental health issues before, and it scared me. Even more alarming was the cognitive decline. I would be in the middle of teaching a yoga class or leading a self-love ceremony and completely lose words mid-sentence.
I am a whip-smart, 40+ year old woman. I teach EFT, I work with clients daily, and I lead groups and ceremonies for a living. And yet, part of me was silently panicking. Dear God… is this early-onset dementia?
In February of 2024, I came down with what felt like the flu—except it never fully went away. For three months, the illness kept morphing, and no one could identify the cause. Finally, during a visit with a holistic doctor, she gently suggested I check my home for black mold. BINGO.
Within days, inspectors confirmed a severe infestation. Ten days later, I was out of my home and into full recovery mode. I immediately committed to a powerful detox protocol and made my health my top priority. Within 30 days, my mind came back online. The fog lifted. My energy returned. I felt like myself again. And through it all, EFT was my saving grace.
Detoxing is not just a physical process; it is deeply emotional and neurological. When toxins leave the body, emotions often come up with them. Before you begin, take a deep breath. Tune into your body. Notice any discomfort, cravings, resistance, or emotions.

Karate Chop Point (side of hand)—repeat 3 times:
“Even though I feel uncomfortable or overwhelmed during this detox, I deeply and completely accept myself.”
“Even though my body is releasing a lot and it’s not easy, I honor how I feel, and I am safe.”
“Even though I’m struggling a bit with this detox, I choose to accept myself where I am.”
Tapping Through the Points (Top to Bottom):
- Eyebrow: “All of this discomfort in my body.”
- Side of Eye: “All these detox symptoms.”
- Under Eye: “These cravings and emotional ups and downs.”
- Under Nose: “I feel tired and frustrated.”
- Chin: “But I know my body is doing its best to heal.”
- Collarbone: “I choose to release what no longer serves me.”
- Under Arm: “Letting go of toxins, emotions, and resistance.”
- Top of Head: “I support my body with love and patience.”
Second Round: Reframing:
- Eyebrow: “My body knows how to cleanse itself, and I am safe.”
- Side of Eye: “I’m letting go with compassion.”
- Under Eye: “I deserve to feel clear, healthy, and vibrant.”
- Under Nose: “Every breath supports my healing.”
- Chin: “I honor my progress.”
- Collarbone: “I am supported.”
- Under Arm: “This process is making me stronger.”
- Top of Head: “I trust my body’s wisdom and timing.”
Take a deep breath and notice the shift.
You cannot mess up EFT. As long as you are breathing deeply and speaking kindly to yourself, you are doing it right.
