My favorite recipe for putting my body into the optimal state for conception

September 17, 2019 by Kela Smith 1 Comment

As a fertility and hormones coach in the health and wellness industry this is something I talk about a LOT. Intentionally eating in a way that puts your body into that optimal state. But what exactly does that mean. It means giving your body foods that are going to work with it and not against it. Removing any food that causes inflammation (processed foods, sugar, gluten, dairy, alcohol, just to name a few) and putting in whole food, balanced nutrition such as organic vegetables, fruits, meats and fats. It means eating in a way that connects the mind and body so that all systems work together and are thriving instead of just surviving.

One of my favorite foods when I was trying to conceive was avocado.

I would literally put it on and in everything and loved knowing all the healthy fats that it provided was nourishing my body from the inside out and I was telling all systems to go into baby making mode. Eating avocado daily became my mission and my passion. During one day of experimentation in my kitchen and from memories of our Mexican dinner the night before, I created my favorite guacamole dip. This dip is not only delicious and nutritious but gives your body a HUGE dose of healthy fat. Make some today and let’s make some babies.

Ingredients
4 ripe Haas avocados
1/4 red onion chopped
1/4 cup pomegranate seeds or dried cranberries
1/4 cup cilantro leaves, chopped (no stems)
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 tbsp lime juice, squeeze from 3 key limes
Garnish with cilantro

Using a knife or avocado tool, slice avocados in half. Reserve the pits for later.
Remove the peels and place the avocado in a bowl.
Mash the avocados until the consistency is smooth with just a few small lumps.
Add remaining ingredients to the bowl. Gently fold all ingredients together.
Garnish with a few cilantro leaves. Enjoy with chopped veggies

If your guacamole will not be enjoyed right away, add in an avocado pit or two, and squeeze a bit more lime juice on top. This will help the guacamole from turning brown.
