Are You Instagram Worthy?

February 20, 2020 by Jana Short Leave a Comment

Let’s face it if your business is not active online you are doing your company a disservice. But with so many different social media platforms out there it can be hard to figure out which option is best for you. Social media can be a great way to expand your company’s reach and help establish deeper more meaningful relationships with your clients. When you approach social media platforms correctly it can open up tons of new business for you. The trick is figuring out which platforms will do the most for you and your business. Sure, you could try to create content and a dominant presence on all of them. However, that really wouldn’t leave you with much time to actually run your business. Are you ready to find out if Instagram is right for you?

Instagram Vs Facebook

While Facebook is currently the number one most visited social media platform, Instagram has been following up closely behind. Facebook pulls in a whopping 2.5 billion active monthly users, whereas Instagram brings in an average of 1 billion active monthly users. Clearly, Facebook has a definite lead over Instagram in monthly users. However, the time spent on Facebook per visit is a much closer race. Facebook users spend an average of 58 minutes per visit while Instagram users spend an average of 53 minutes per visit. By now, you may be leaning more towards Facebook over Instagram as your companies platform of choice. Before you jump ship, you need to know that users on Instagram produce four times as many interactions per post than that of Facebook!

The Power of Going Live

One of the biggest marketing boosts that Instagram has over Facebook is the usage of the Stories option. Users spend the majority of their time logged on viewing the Stories and Live videos on Instagram. Not to mention users are more likely to follow at least one brand on Instagram as opposed to on Facebook. On average 90% of Instagram users follow at least on business or brand. When asked why users followed brands 78% of the audience said that it was due to the brand being either: popular, creative, entertaining, or committed to building a community. Once more an average of 83% of users discover new products or services via Instagram’s platform. Of the 83% of users who found these products or services, an average of 80% ended up buying a product or service from the company they follow.

Hidden Perks

One of the perks of using social media platforms for your business is the ability to advertise directly to your target demographic. Given that most companies spend the majority of their budget on advertisement any reductions in cost that can be made can have a huge impact on the bottom line. Using social media platforms to generate buzz on an upcoming product or service can really cut down costs. In fact, unless you are paying to push an ad or to have someone create your campaign it can be totally free! But can posting on Instagram help your business spread the word? According to the business owners surveyed 89% said that Instagram was the most important platform for their marketing.

How to Cut Costs

When it comes to advertising on Instagram companies see more of a return on their investments when using Instagram ads over Facebook ads. In fact, ad spending on Instagram is 23% higher than Facebook. With a higher engagement activity on Instagram and more audience following it makes sense that Instagram usage for businesses is on the rise. Instagram is projected to be 30% of a company’s entire ad revenue by 2020. Just having an active account on Instagram is a great way to convert potential clients into active clients. On average 65% of users visit a business website after seeing it on Instagram. With even higher conversion rates being observed with the use of Instagram stories it is clear that having a business account on this platform has its advantages.

Back By Popular Demand

It seems that Instagram has quickly become the social media platform of choice for businesses everywhere. But what is the current demographic it covers? As I mentioned before, if you don’t know who you are looking for you are basically just swinging for the fences blindfolded. Knowing your target market is what helps you really narrow down your focus and ensure you are attracting the right customers. It is better to focus on one target and become an expert at it, as opposed to the spray and pray method. 71% of Instagram users are 35 years or younger. With the majority of users being female (51%). However, unlike Facebook, the battle between the sexes seems to be much closer with men coming in at 49%. Making Instagram much more male-dominated social media platform than Facebook.

Maximize Your Efforts

If you have decided that Instagram is the social media platform for you, there are a few things you will need to keep in mind. You want to post regularly. Consistency is a powerful thing when it comes to social media. It tells your audience that they can count on you. Like all forms of content, it should provide some sort of value to your audience. It helps when you create a schedule or theme for different days. This helps to provide more variety for your viewers and in doing so it also expands your reach even further. Try to choose themes that are relevant to your audience or relate to your product or services. There are so many things you can do to maximize your social media exposure and in doing so your influence in your field. The trick is to find ways to streamline your focus and process. You want to be able to spend more time focused on interacting with your clients and I can so you how to do just that.
